Subscribers: Please Read… New Blog

After some thought and introspection, I’ve decided to suspend this blog for an undetermined amount of time. I feel, for the time being, I’ve said all I’ve wanted to say on the subject, and would like to have the freedom to broaden my subject matter. Therefore, I’ve created a new blog that will focus less on these two specific teams, and more on football in general. Specifically, I’d like to include posts about other teams as well as players that don’t play for either Barcelona or Real Madrid. I will continue to take a more “journal-like” approach, basically writing down the thoughts and experiences that I encounter on any given day. Additionally, I’d like to include non-football related material if it’s something I feel like sharing. I will keep this site up, primarily for the purpose of holding out hope that someone out there shares my misery concerning this very specific topic… but assuming the unlikelihood of this, I’d like to focus my time on my new blog titled, “Just Pitchy”. You can find it here:  www.justpitchy.wordpress.com

Thank you to all those that attempted to understand my unusual predicament, and those that commented and supported me. I hope you’ll come along with me on this new adventure. :)

Happy Valentine’s Day

Really, I don’t get into this “holiday” and find it a rather silly occasion. I wouldn’t normally write about it at all, but then this came across my Facebook timeline and just thought I’d share it… I know it’s Barca related, but I SWEAR there are no Barca players to be seen… Humor me Madridistas.

Beauty Is In The Eye Of The Beholder… And My Eyes Are Wide Open

I chose this pic for two reasons... Obviously, he's known for his rather large eyes. I like to just consider them "wide open". But also because he's the perfect example of someone some people consider to be beautiful while others do not (gasp!). But either way can't we all agree that he plays some really beautiful football?!

I don’t know why, and I’m not sure what set me off, but for some reason today I woke up feeling incredibly sorry for myself. That’s not a typical feeling for me to experience.  I don’t like self-pity or complainers.  I’ve never been one, but I guess there’s a first time for everything.

Wait… There’s Another Clasico Tomorrow?

I know I haven’t written anything lately… but I seem to have run out of ideas lately. And since I treat this blog more like a journal, and less like a place to visit for information, that results in fewer posts. Not to mention the craziness of the holidays. I’ve been watching plenty of football, but feel like I haven’t had time to think about it much lately. Until, of course, this clasico showed up. I know I knew it was a possibility, but without the results secured and the date not being known for sure until sometime last week, it kinda didn’t exist in my brain. But alas, it now is a certainty, and it is on the calendar, and it is TOMORROW.

Merry Christmas to Me!!!… So why so blue?

So if you read my last post about my Christmas wish for the Clasico, you’ll understand why this match should have made me incredibly delighted. I think almost all of my wishes were granted…

All I Want for Christmas… The Clasico Edition

Here we go… Gearing up for another clasico. I cannot even put into words the angst these games cause me. I’m trying to write something and I literally cannot express myself coherently. I’ve written, and deleted, written, and deleted. So I’ve decided to go simple. With Christmas coming, and all the talk in my household about wish lists lately, I figured I’d write my wish list for this upcoming fixture. Some of my requests might sound a little audacious, but isn’t that the point of a wish list?

National Pride and a Little Taste of La Vinotinto

Ok, so let’s try this again. THIS TIME I will hit “publish” at the appropriate time, meaning after proofreading, and of course adding the all-important pictures. They really shouldn’t put the publish and save buttons so close together…

La Vinotinto, for you non-Spanish speaking readers out there, translates to “The Burgundy” (or literally, “wine colored”) and is the nickname given to the Venezuelan National Football Team because of the burgundy color of their jerseys. I’m not sure how many of you are familiar with the team or it’s individuals, but I thought I’d provide a little info on them for a number of reasons: my husband is from Venezuela, they’ve been making quite an impact down in South America in the last year, and several of their international players are influencing leagues across Europe. In an effort to find something “fresh” to write about, I thought I’d profile a few of these players and touch on a bit of national pride as I go!

“Your Love is Like… A Rollercoaster, Baby, Baby”

The Highs and Lows of My (very short) Football-Following Life: Sort of like riding a roller coaster… There are ups and downs.

Warning: This got to be a bit long. If you lose interest half-way through I understand completely. But you may want to get a snack and a cup of coffee before you start. ;)
